For your Diabetic Canine Patients We are happy to provide two articles for pet owners of diabetic patients. The first one directly concerns the pet owner who has been informed by you that their dog is diabetic. 75% of these patients will develop blinding cataracts within one year of diagnosis of diabetes, and it is important that they are informed about cataracts BEFORE the blindness develops, to help them prepare for this disease ahead of time. This article, Cataracts, Blindness, and Diabetic Dogs, can be printed from this website, or you may call our office and we can mail you the article in handout form. If you call, please let us know how many copies you would like to receive. The second article, Cataracts in Dogs, is very detailed and discusses cataracts and cataract surgery in general. If you have any questions regarding these articles or any of the other articles in our Eye Diseases section of this website, please give us a call!
