The Veterinarian's duty to refer will arise whenever the Veterinarian knows, or should know, that the patient's ailment is beyond his or her knowledge and skill to diagnose or treat with a reasonable likelihood of success, or when it becomes apparent that the patient would likely benefit from evaluation or treatment by a specialist. Referring a case clearly demonstrates to the Client that the referring Veterinarian places quality patient care above all else. This attitude can only help improve Client-Veterinarian rapport.

We welcome phone consultations in addition to the referral of your patients. During your patient's initial comprehensive ophthalmic examination at Animal Eye Care, we will spend one hour evaluating the patient and discussing with the owner the diagnosis and treatment of the eye condition. All of the owner's questions will be answered with the care and attention that your patient and the owner deserve. Our goal is to not only provide the highest quality medical and surgical services possible, but also educate the owner regarding their pet's eye disease. If the owner understands WHAT is wrong with the eye(s), WHY the eye(s) have a problem, and WHAT the treatment options are, they can then make the best informed treatment decision on how to help their beloved pet.
